Books
Here’s a peek at the stories I’m creating and where they are in the journey to readers’ hands.
Stories In The Making
Every book starts as a spark—an idea that grows into characters, worlds, and wild adventures.
Drafting: For me, stories usually begin with a character—I love imagining up silly characters full of quirky vibes. From there, I think of the problem they face and let the ideas flow. My favorite part of drafting is that it’s supposed to be messy and full of possibility!
Editing: Once the bones of a story are down, I polish. This means tightening the humor, trimming extra words, and cutting the clutter so the story feels smooth, fun, and page-turn-worthy. Editing is also the stage of teamwork! I use beta readers, critique partners, and make sure that I have lots (and lots!) of openness to change.
Querying: This stage is when a manuscript is ready to head out into the world of literary agents. It’s all about pitching the story, finding the right champion for it, and crossing my fingers that someone else falls in love with it the way I have.
On Submission: When an agent loves a story enough to send it to editors, it’s officially “on submission.” And…hopefully making its way through a publishing house to find its home on a bookshelf near you!
Below you’ll find my current works-in-progress, each at a different stage:
MAISIE AND MATT PRETEND: ROBO-LOBSTER & SPARKLE MONSTER
Status: Querying
Pitch: In a chaotic game of pretend, cousins Maisie and Matt transform into Robo-Lobster and Sparkle Monster, sailing their sofa-turned-pirate-ship through stormy seas. Their mission: stop bickering long enough to secure the treasure before stinky Skunk Beard does!
GOOD NEWS!
Status: Querying
Pitch: Lemur has good news, bad news, and absolutely no idea how to deliver either to his friend Llama without total chaos.
THE BAD GUY DREAM
Status: Querying
Pitch: Blue, the fidget dolphin toy, is tired of being cast as the good guy in his kid’s dreams. He’s ready for his villain era. But if his evil plan flops? It’s back to sidekick status…for good.
HE SAID NO!
Status: Editing
Pitch: After gobbling down his first ice cream, Penguin has one left to share. Hippo tries every nonverbal way to say no, but Penguin is persistent in asking. Luckily, Bird steps in to translate Hippo’s refusal because Penguin simply cannot take a hint. But if someone doesn’t say yes—and soon—that miraculous scoop will melt into one sticky puddle.
THE LOST AND FOUND
Status: Editing
Pitch: The Velveteen Rabbit meets Shrek — a forgotten toy who’s perfectly happy being left alone is dragged into a magical world, a new friendship, and a destiny he wants absolutely nothing to do with.
DINO-SIR
Status: Editing
Pitch: Dino-Sir isn’t like the other dinosaurs.
While they stomp, roar, and burp their way through the day, he says things like, “After you!” and “Pardon me!” He fears he’s not a real dinosaur after all…
But when the Dino King arrives with a problem, it turns out Dino-Sir’s manners might just save the day!
MAISIE AND MATT PRETEND: THE MUSTACHIOED LAVA SQUIRREL
Status: Editing
Pitch: When Maisie spots a mustachioed squirrel (the same one who stole her cheese puff!), she and her cousin Matt tumble into an over-the-top imaginative adventure…complete with volcano buttons, laser-eyed spy crows, penguin powers, and a quiet new friend who just might save the day.
LILLIAN’S BEST LIST EVER
Status: Editing
Pitch: When her best friend with Down syndrome is treated unfairly, list-loving Lillian grabs her sparkly pen to make her most important list yet. She hopes it will open minds, heal hearts, and show what true friendship looks like.
DON’T FLIP LITTLE bob!
Status: Querying
Pitch: In DON’T FLIP LITTLE BOB a very frazzled magician rushes off on vacation and leaves you in charge with one MASSIVE rule: do not flip Little bob. But Little bob loves beans, loves being flipped even more, and might even slap on a sneaky disguise to trick you into doing it. It will take every ounce of your willpower to avoid a full-blown gassy flip-tastrophe.
Kind words from my readers
Have a look what people have to say:
THE BAD GUY DREAM
"I loved it so much I read it like five times because it's just so good! ...This story is so sweet. Blue is such a delightful protagonist. My five-year-old son is high-needs autistic, and he has a shark that seems similar to Blue, and I could just see my son in the story as [the kid] Anthony. "
Maisie and Matt Pretend: The Mustachioed Lava Squirrel
"LOVE that you're adding inclusion into this story line. As an Early Childhood educator, we absolutely need more books featuring children with disabilities/autism."
GOOD NEWS!
"[The book] conveys child-like fun, with a little lesson given in a non didactic way...I was busting up laughing too."
